A hand-thrown stoneware mug, cream with blue underglaze drawing and
pink and yellow brushwork, on a green and pink painted ground. Scrolling
turns it and tips it up to show the words BE KIND painted inside, with two
          small hearts.

Commissions

Something made for one particular person or place.

A dinner set built up over months. A vase sized to a windowsill. I take on a few commissions at a time, and I'd rather make one thing properly than ten things quickly.

The studio

Clay does what it wants and I negotiate.

I work out of a small studio with one wheel and a kiln that I've learned the moods of. Most of what I make is meant to be used - eaten off, drunk from, put on a windowsill and forgotten about until it catches the light. The rest is what happens when I stop making useful things for a while.
